Karl Mayer Explores Opportunities in India's Textile Sector
Karl Mayer is set to showcase advancements in warp knitting and technical textiles at India ITME 2026, reflecting India's shift towards higher-value textile products.

Karl Mayer, a German textile machinery manufacturer, is capitalizing on India's initiative to diversify its textile industry into higher-value products. The company will present its innovations at the India ITME 2026 exhibition, scheduled for December 4-9 in Greater Noida.
One significant trend is the increasing interest in warp knitting technology from established circular knitters. These manufacturers are looking to expand their production capabilities, particularly in athleisure, footwear, and functional apparel. Mark Smith, deputy vice president of sales for Karl Mayer’s warp knitting division, noted the advantages of warp knitted fabrics in terms of output and quality.

Karl Mayer's product lineup includes two- and three-bar tricot machines, as well as new jacquard double needle bar raschel machines aimed at footwear manufacturers. The company also sees potential in India's technical textiles sector, particularly in infrastructure and renewable energy applications.
In warp preparation, Karl Mayer will showcase its Prosize and Warpdirect technologies, which enhance efficiency and reduce waste. Additionally, the company is expanding its online spare parts shop to provide better access to essential components for its machines.
At the exhibition, Karl Mayer will conduct digital machinery demonstrations and participate in the Textile Horizons conference, focusing on robotics and automation in textile production.
